FSCS data show fee structure
The average payment protection insurance (PPI) claimant paid claims management companies (gmcs) £ 960 of their claim in cost, according to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Last year, gmcs were paid £ 7.4 m in compensation, and £ 22 m have received since the mass-selling scandal broke, according to The Independent.
About three-fifths of PPI claims came from assisting in 2012, according to the research.
