Monexnews-the Yen remained steady and Asian stock exchanges plunged Monday after a proposal from Cyprus made investors fret, while the gains experienced by Wall Street stalled, hitting sentiment in the market.
The European Finance Ministers want Cyprus to pay 6.2% of their deposits in return for help worth 10 billion euros (or equivalent to $ 13 billion). If approved by the Parliament on Monday, it will be the first time a new example in Europe, raising fears that it might become a new chapter in the European bailout package.
