Monexnews-Japan's Nikkei stock Index rose above 12,000 Thursday for the first time in 4-1/2 years, with interest supported by strengthening risk Wall Street and the prospect that Japan will adopt monetary policies.
The Nikkei rose 1.1% to 12, 060.96 in the early trading session, the highest level since September 2008.
Exporters led the sector while strengthening the u.s. dollar climbed to a high of 1 against the Yen after a weekend data showed private-sector employment rose higher than an estimate of 198,000 in February.
